The Gleason No. 137 (469) Hypoid Grinder is an automatic, wet-type, high speed machine for grinding spiral bevel, ZEROL bevel and hypoid gears and pinions. It also can be used to grind generated pinions to mate with gears cut or ground by the FORMATE method. In addition to the familiar generating roll, the workhead is capable of a reciporcating vertical motion, which enables the grinding of a large cone distance combination used in angular drives. The machine also features a large bore work spindle, capable of holding gears and pinions with large shafts.
